As Ballet San Jose’s production will remind audiences, of course, there’s a reason Swan Lake is such an iconic ballet–from its beautiful music to memorable, dramatic scenes that tell of how Prince Siegfried seeks to rescue his beloved, Princess Odette, from the clutches of sorcerer Baron Von Rothbart, whose conjuring has transformed Odette into his dark swan queen. Ballet San Jose artistic director Dennis Nahat choreographs this production, in a version that explores the source of the baron’s evil ways. Symphony Silicon Valley will perform Tchaikovsky’s score.
